Thesis Statement
In recent years, American railroads have been attempting to increase their efficiency by implementing cost saving measures, furloughing jobs, and cutting corners in safety to keep trains moving. With this, the workers on the ground have had more pressure placed on them to perform their jobs usually under impossible expectations. The goal of Rerail is to get the attention of Railroad CEOs and others in the industry that can directly affect change. This is done through the use of targeted marketing mediums that discuss pressing matters employees are currently facing, like low morale, health benefits, workplace safety and adequate pay to name a few.

Being bold and personal was a must from the onset of establishing the Rerail brand. The designs are direct references from issues highlighted in interviews with five current and retired railroad employees. A high contrast color palette and bold fonts work to translate the feelings of those who are experiencing hard times on our local railroads. Portability and speed in Rerail’s sticker packs, offer a fast and easy way to get the word out no matter where an employee may find themselves. Posters allow employees to place Rerail messaging in all places using a larger format, whether that be the cabs of locomotives all the way to corporate boardrooms.
A model boxcar and its packaging work to grab the attention of future generations of railroaders, young and old. It uses industry issues and ominous warnings to provoke thought as to whether railroad life is right for them.
Railroading has never been an easy job. Current day issues will remain prevalent if nothing is done to solve them, leaving future generations a huge mess to sort out. With Rerail, we can look out for those both current and future, to ensure everyone is treated properly.
